Plenty of people have life cover they've half forgotten: a group policy through work, one attached to a mortgage, one bought years ago from an adviser. When the insured person dies, the insurer doesn't track down the family. Your loved ones have to make the claim, and first they need to know who to call.
Two things are enough
- the name of the insurer (one line per policy if you have several),
- who the payout goes to, for example “Ola 50%, Tom 50%”.
If the policy number or the document is close by, add the number and take a photo of the first page. You don't need to dig out paperwork to start, though. The insurer's name on its own already helps a lot.
Cover through work counts too
Group life cover usually ends when you leave the job, but while you're there it pays out like any private policy. Write down your employer and the insurer, otherwise your family may never know the policy existed.
In the app: Insurance Policies, then Life Insurance Policies. The note stays on your phone and in your own backup, not on our server.
