Music, films, cloud storage, software: subscriptions renew on their own and keep charging. A simple list lets your family switch them off quickly.

Subscriptions after death: the list that stops them draining the account

Most of us pay for several subscriptions: music, streaming, cloud storage, work software, a fitness app. Each one is a separate contract that renews by itself and charges a card or an account. After someone dies the payments carry on until somebody stops them, and the family often has no idea what to look for.

For each service, write down

  • the name of the service,
  • how you pay: which card, PayPal, or through the App Store or Google Play,
  • whether the account is just yours or shared with the household.

That last point matters. A family plan is often better moved to someone else in the household than cancelled, otherwise everyone loses access at once.

Where to find them

Your card statements from the last two months and the Subscriptions section of your Google or Apple account will show almost all of them. Writing the list usually takes about fifteen minutes.

In the app: Digital Identity and Communication, then Other Digital Services.
