LegacyApp is introducing the GOLD Plan, a new paid tier that adds supervised delivery of your notes to the people who matter. It builds on the model you already know from the app: the free plan notifies your Beneficiary by email, Premium adds SMS, and GOLD brings in a real person, the Guardian, when those messages go unanswered. GOLD costs 99 USD a year, and the full service is described at gold.legacy.app.

The core point

Even the best prepared note is worthless if it never reaches the right person.

Why email and SMS are not always enough

An automated notification assumes the recipient will see it and act. But emails land in spam, phone numbers change, and people ignore messages from unknown senders. Someone grieving in a hard moment can easily overlook a message. More and more of what a family has to handle after a death is no longer paper: it is a phone locked with a PIN or biometrics, and an inbox no one else has the password to. We are the first generation leaving behind a password-protected estate.

How the GOLD Plan works

You use LegacyApp as you normally would: collect your notes and confirm from time to time that everything is fine. You set the inactivity trigger anywhere from 1 to 90 days. When the app detects no activity, the delivery sequence begins and your Primary Beneficiary gets an email and SMS, with 7 days to confirm receipt.

If they do not respond within those 7 days, the GOLD Guardian steps in and makes personal contact by phone, SMS, social media or alternative addresses. If the main Beneficiary still cannot be reached, the Guardian moves on to your Substitute Beneficiaries, up to 5 people, in the order and timetable you set in advance.

Where the Guardian can reach out
  • Email: primary and additional addresses
  • Phone and SMS for calls and messages
  • Messaging apps: WhatsApp, Messenger and others
  • Social media: LinkedIn, Facebook and other profiles
  • Registered mail, up to two home addresses and an official e-delivery address

The Guardian never sees your notes

This is the most common question, so the answer comes first. GOLD is physically separated from the main LegacyApp app and from your vault. The Guardian has no access to your notes, files or data. They see only the contact details of the relevant Beneficiary and the instructions, and have a single task: deliver the information.

Our Guardians are trained specialists working under a documented, GDPR-compliant procedure, and every action they take is saved with a precise timestamp in a full audit log you can review. Panel access uses a one-time PIN sent to your email, so there are no passwords to remember. Your notes stay encrypted (AES-256) on your phone, with a secured copy in your own Google Drive or iCloud, never on our servers.

The great wealth transfer is going digital

The scale of the problem is growing faster than it seems. According to the World Wealth Report 2025 (Capgemini), $83.5 trillion in wealth will change hands by 2048, the largest transfer on record. A growing share of it is digital, and secured so well that it can disappear along with its owner.

Crypto is the clearest example. An estimated 2.3 to 4 million bitcoin are believed to be lost for good, in part because the holder died and no one knew where to find the recovery phrase for the wallet.

GOLD with advisers and in private banking

That is why GOLD will be available not only directly in LegacyApp, but also through partners: succession advisers and wealth management and private banking firms. The first is Fidest Doradztwo Sukcesyjne, built by experts behind more than 2,000 completed succession plans. As Fidest points out, you can have a detailed plan of who inherits what and still never tell your family where that wealth actually is. Details about accounts, policies, investments or crypto seed phrases stay in the owner's head and vanish with them, often cutting families off from money exactly when they need it most.

Featured in FinanceX Magazine

Shortly after launch, GOLD drew coverage from FinanceX Magazine, an international fintech and wealthtech title. In a piece by Koen Vanderhoydonk, the magazine framed digital inheritance as a distinct financial problem and read GOLD mainly through the lens of wealth management, calling "access continuity" an emerging service category for advisers and private banks.

How to get started

First you organize the information for your family in the free LegacyApp app: accounts, policies, documents, things to take care of. From time to time the app asks whether everything is fine. If you stop responding, the delivery procedure begins, confirmed by your trusted people.

To add the human layer, buy GOLD for 99 USD a year at gold.legacy.app and activate it with a code in the app. Activation takes up to 3 business days, and you renew annually only if you choose. You then get a dedicated panel for the extended Beneficiary profile, supplementary contact details and your Substitute Beneficiaries.

GOLD does not change what matters most in LegacyApp: you decide what you save and who should receive it. It only adds the last piece that cannot be fully automated, a person who makes sure the information actually arrives. You will find the full service at gold.legacy.app.

Start with one note. It takes five minutes.

Write down the first thing your family should know. You can add the rest later.

Questions & answers

The short version, for people (and assistants) in a hurry.

How is GOLD different from Free and Premium?

Free and Premium use only automated email and SMS. GOLD adds a dedicated panel and a Guardian, a real person who actively tries to reach your main Beneficiary by phone, SMS, social media and back-up addresses when the automated messages go unanswered.

Does the Guardian see my LegacyApp notes?

No. GOLD is separated from LegacyApp, so the Guardian only sees the contact details of the main Beneficiary. Sign-in is by one-time PIN and every action is logged with a timestamp.

What if the Beneficiary does not respond despite the Guardian's actions?

The Guardian contacts your Substitute Beneficiaries, up to 5, one by one in the order and timetable you set. Every attempt is logged.

Do I need LegacyApp on my phone to use GOLD?

Yes. GOLD is an add-on to the LegacyApp app, and your notes are created and stored in the app. Download it on iOS or Android, buy GOLD, and activate it with a code.

How much does GOLD cost and where do I buy it?

99 USD a year, with annual renewal only if you choose. Buy it at gold.legacy.app, and soon through partners: succession advisers and wealth management and private banking firms.
