For many families the car is the most valuable thing after the home. Renewing the insurance, reporting damage or selling it all need the details on the registration document. If you're in hospital or no longer around, your family should have them without hunting through the house.
For each vehicle
- a photo of the registration document (both sides if it has two),
- where the car's papers and the spare key are kept,
- who insures it and when the policy renews.
If the car is leased or on finance, add the company's name. A car like that isn't fully yours yet, and your family will need to contact the finance company first. And if someone else in your family is the one who looks after the cars, forward this tip to them.
