I am restoring my LegacyApp notes from my backup but I don't remember which email or password I used

To access your backup, especially after installing LegacyApp on a new device, you no longer need a password. LegacyApp uses a Magic Link login system – simply enter the same email address you used before. The app will recognise you and send you a unique login link.

How to restore your LegacyApp notes if you don't remember your email address: a short step-by-step guide

  1. Install the LegacyApp mobile app on your new device.
  2. Enter the email address you previously used in LegacyApp. If you don’t remember which email you used, the easiest way to check is to search your inboxes for any messages from: @app.legacyapp.rip. The email address that received messages from this sender is linked to your LegacyApp account.
  3. LegacyApp will send you an email with a unique Magic Link. Click on the link in the email to log in to the app.
  4. Once logged in, go to the “Backups” section in the app and choose the backup you wish to restore.

Done! You’ll now be able to restore your data from the encrypted backup. The app will ask you to enter the Encryption Key you created earlier when saving your backup – and you’ll be shown the hint you previously set to help you remember or find it.
