About us

The LegacyApp Team

The LegacyApp team

I'm Paweł Soproniuk, co-founder and CEO of LegacyApp.

These days I'm building LegacyApp with a small, experienced team: Lidia, Ireneusz and Martin, who works from the UK.

In short

What LegacyApp does

One encrypted place for the information that matters: insurance policies, bank and investment accounts, property, passwords, instructions.

And a way to pass that information to the right person if something happens to you. On your terms, at the right time.

Why it matters

The problem

We used to keep the important documents in one drawer. Now they're spread across clouds, inboxes and apps. When someone dies, their family doesn't inherit a clear picture. They inherit a search: which insurer held the policy, which bank, what were the logins. Often they never find it.

Roughly 20% of all crypto is stranded with owners who have died. In the US, about $70 billion sits unclaimed in the accounts of deceased people.

The alternatives

How people handle this today

A lawyer
Solid, but expensive, and not something you update with every small change.
A paper folder
Needs reprinting, anyone who finds it can open it, and it can be lost or destroyed.
A file on a computer
Hard to share safely, hard to keep current.
Closed apps and digital safes
Most keep your notes on their own servers, which adds cost and risk.

Three steps

How it works

1
You save
Policies, accounts, property, liabilities, as text or photos. Update anytime.
2
The app checks in
Now and then it asks "Is everything OK?". You decide how often, and you can pause it, for example on holiday.
3
If you stop answering
The person you chose gets secure access to your notes. You can also require trusted persons to confirm first.

How it's protected

Security

No central server
Your notes stay on your phone, and if you turn on backup, in your own cloud (Google Drive or iCloud). Not on ours.
AES-256 encryption
The same standard banks and the military use. The key has two halves: yours (at least 8 characters) and the app's (over 90 characters). Even if someone stole your backup, they could not decrypt it without both halves.
Zero-knowledge
We can't read your notes. If our systems were breached, there would be nothing to decrypt.
Trusted persons
You can require people you nominate to confirm before any access is granted. Each one accepts the role knowingly, and you can change them anytime.
Outside legal oversight
GDPR compliance is supervised by the law firm LBK&P.

Not just for later

Useful every day

LegacyApp is useful while you're around too. Day to day it works as an encrypted, fingerprint-locked notebook. Emergency Notes let you share specific information with specific people, when you choose to.

What it costs

Free to start

LegacyApp is freemium. The basic version is free, supported by ads.

If you want more, there are two paid plans. Premium is $33 a year: no ads, several beneficiaries, more room. GOLD is $99 a year and adds a concierge: a person from our team actively reaches your beneficiary if automated contact doesn't get through.

B2B

For partners, banks and insurers

Banks, insurers and benefit platforms give LegacyApp to their clients and employees. It starts with activation codes and no technical integration. From there: a dedicated Premium build, or an optional white label.

Open standard

Help shape Legacy Protocol.

LegacyApp leads Legacy Protocol, an open format any service can use to pass a record forward to a customer's digital legacy. A bank that opens an account, an insurer that writes a policy, a gaming or cloud platform that opens a customer account, a crypto exchange that lists a wallet: one button, and the customer decides what happens with the record. They can keep it as a file or send it to any protocol-compatible service, like LegacyApp.

The first version is published. Some of the most useful decisions are still open, and we want partners in the room before they set. No license fee, no exclusivity, nothing to pay.

One more thing

You made it to the bottom. Here's a thank-you.

Because you read all the way down, here's a free year of LegacyApp Premium on me. One license you can share with two people. Enter your email and I'll activate it on your account.

No card. No trial that bills you later. One year, free.
